The small Pyrenneen town of La Mongie is situated at 1800 metres above sea level, right at the foot of the Pic du Midi, one of the best known mountains in the Pyrenees. This ski area has two different sides to it:
-On the eastern side of the ski area you can find a high alpine ski resort
-On the western side of the resort, there is the pretty and wonderfully preserved Pyrenean village, Barèges.
The ski resort of La Mongie and her sister Barèges make up the ‘Domaine du Tourmalet’. With 69 ski runs and 39 lifts, it is the largest ski resort in the French Pyrenees. The area stretches almost 100 km and culminates at 2500 metres.
