Quiet Megeve, very "select" Megeve or the surprise of Megeve..? The Village of Megeve has, since forever been appreciated and well respected by locals for its undoubted natural beauty, but also for the perfect marriage between tradition and contemporary progression. The Megeve ski resort is made up of four areas: - The diverse Mont d'Arbois, home to the Rocharbois, which links one side of the valley to the other, even if you don't ski. - Côte 2000 with its permanent downhill ski run, a set aside specialist facility that exists very little in France. In the early season you'll be likely to find some of the best skiing in the area due to the little amount of sunlight that this north facing area receives. - Rochebrune is especially well regarded for the variety of skiing and its natural wooded landscapes. - Jaillet has views to the village and overlooks the three other areas. It is perhaps the quietest of all the areas. The free shuttle bus is very popular and links Jaillet, Cote 2000, Mont d'Arbois and Rochebrune. The buses come about every 20 minutes. In Megève, the powder skiing is not reserved only for the pros. Skiers like you and me also have the right to enjoy all the pleasures of the newly fallen fresh, without venturing on potentially dangerous off-piste paths. Infact, in Megeve, after a large snowfall not all the slopes are groomed. Automatically all skiers, whatever their ability level can enjoy the pleasure of the soft powder, without even venturing off-piste. Freestylers in the know, Megeve is the place to be! Accessible to all, snowboarders and skiers, both amateurs and professionals, the Waidzai Snow Park has a variety of features from big to small, and something for everyone. The idea of the park in Megeve was infact to build the features on a smaller scale allowing novices to enjoy the thrills of freestyle skiing and snowboarding more easily than in a conventional snowpark. Open all winter long, the Waidzai Park has a collection of around ten different styles of features: whoops, pyramids, banked turns, hips, small jumps and a boarder cross course. All that in an area 500 metres long, where newbies can string together jumps at their own pace, and experienced freestylers can improve. For Nordic skiers Megeve has a little paradise. Head over to Côte 2000 where there is a beautiful chalet that acts as a welcome centre, a picnic room and a mini bar. At the base of the cross country ski area beginners benefit from the alpine plateaus which have well maintained, wide groomed tracks, that often experience great snow conditions. Higher up, the tracks become a bit more technical however for the more experienced skier there are some great routes to do, we recommend the Javen loop. The little wannabe ski champions in Megeve have five different snow gardens reserved for them; all 3 to 5 year olds are welcome. In the Piwi Piwi-club (ESF), kids learn to protect themselves from the cold and the sun, learning from those who know the mountains best and, of course, how they can control their speed. For smallest children Meg'Accueil has several places in the centre of Megève that they can recommend. In the evening, Megeve puts on its dancing shoes, the DJs and chefs all over town will make your evening a truly unforgettable one. - For food lovers; Taste the speciality mushroom fondue, a farce cake or a Savoyard biscuit, - For fun and atmosphere try out the casino or the Palo Alto disco for night out.
