Je conseille cette station où tout est mis en œuvre pour le skieur ainsi que les personnes qui l'accompagne (non skieur eventuel). Le personnel au caisse parle français, est de bons conseils, souriant, commerçant. La station est accessible aussi bien pour les débutants que les experts, bien sûr, quand il y a de la neige.

Aujourd hui mauvaise neige et enneigement très insuffisant. Pistes mal damées et cailloux apparents. Nous avons abîmé notre matériel de ski. Nous avons été très mal reçus par le personnel des caisses. C est un scandale. Même en parlant espagnol, on ne répond pas à nos questions et on se moque du client. Inacceptable !!! En plus le tarif des forfaits est excessif. Très très déçus. Nous ne reviendrons pas à Masella et nous ne conseillerons pas à nos amis.

Nous avions fait le choix d'aller skier en Espagne à La Molina pour ces vacances de février 2016 (semaine 7) et nous ne le regrettons pas. En effet, le domaine Alp 2500 (La Molina - Masella) est très grand (141Km de pistes), juste derrière la frontière et comme les Espagnols n'étaient pas en congés, il n'y avait personne sur les pistes. En repassant la frontière nous avons été confortés par notre choix en voyant toutes les voitures arriver des stations françaises. Si le côté de La Molina est déjà très intéressant, le côté Masella est tout simplement magnifique. Le panorama sur la vallée de Cerdagne est somptueux et les pistes sont tracées à 70% dans la forêt. Au niveau de la difficulté, il y en a pour tous les goûts et niveaux. Surement le plus domaine des Pyrénées pour nous jusqu'à présent! Un peu plus de réserve, et c'est surprenant en Espagne, quant à l'après ski avec assez peu de commerces.

Masella is a few minutes drive from the cute Catalan Cerdanya small town of Alp, with its restaurants, hotels and late bars. And another 10 minutes from beautiful Puigcerda/Bourg-Madame straddling the French and Spanish borders. Combined with la Molina – you can ski between the resorts, it gives about 140km of trails. The skiing is excellent, pretty similar to the US South West, but with open runs at the top of the mountain, and the bottom half being lovely tree-lined trails. I think it beats Andorra as skiing destination, the runs are much longer, and many are tree-lined. Service is really friendly. There is loads of skiing for everybody up to advanced – experts may find it more limited. Prices are very good. I was told it can be busy at the weekend, as it can be reached by Barcelona’s suburban rail network in a couple of hours, but not as busy as La Molina. However quiet empty pistes mid-week as long as it is not a Spanish school holiday period.

Masella has a lot going for it. It's a big, BIG mountain(over 3000 vertical feet) and offers easily accessible snow fields and off-piste terrain. Add to that it's an easy commute from Barcelona, and you have some world class skiing a mere two hours from the city and beach. However, it lacks snow cover. I first skied the mountain in Spring of 2010, when the region had gotten buried. It was phenomenal and breathtaking. By contrast, this year finds white pistes snaking through dirt and foliage to a spring-like base area. That said, the on-piste skiing was surprisingly good. Masella has mastered the art of snowmaking and I was dumbfounded by how good the surface was in the face of lean snowfall. As a day trip, Masella is a great option - particularly as it can be combined with the Gondola connected La Molina. In good snowfall, its even a good destination resort. Thus, what Masella can be depends heavily on the weather. One note: there are better lodging options in La Molina, so for overnights, stay in that village and use the gondola to access both mountains.

Massela is located in the Cerdanya in the central Pyrenees. The resort is close to the French and Andorran borders, and sits on the northern slope of Tosa d'Alp. It is located only 90 minutes from Barcelona. 80% of slopes are in the middle of the forest (an unusually high percentage in the Pyrenees), which helps guarantees the quality and quantity of snow and offers protection in foggy or stormy weather. The other 20% of our trails are located at the top of the mountain, offering a great view of the Cerdanya area. 90% of trails face north and there are more than 350 snow cannons – both helping to provide consistently good snow cover. Uplift is modern and includes three high speed detachable quads. There is also a snowpark and boardercross where skiers and boarders will find big jumps and plenty of other hits. The resort is linked to La Molina in the Arc 2500 area, one of the few Spanish resorts lift linked together and providing between them the largest ski area in Spain with 113km (70 miles) of trails.
