Unless you're a very confident skier I wouldn't recommend Lech! Compared to France, Lech's blue runs are very steep with a few easy sections, whereas France's blue runs are easy with a few tricky sections! The main run back to Lech village is classed as a blue but it is definitely a hard red!

If the sun is shining a great area (but then most ski areas are great in the sun). But if weather is marginal, poor or bad forget it. Lifts close too easily reducing each village to a tiny resort with awful old lift infrastructure and unacceptable queues. For example Lech has an antiquated 2 man slow chairlift and 1x drag lift if there is any medium to strong wind - and that’s it ( for 300 Euros for a 6 day pass). Strong winds and they close all of it. (The cable car to OberLech isn’t really to get to skiing). Zürs is the same. 2 baby drag lifts and a chair lift with a height difference of around 100m. For a supposed “World Class Resort” they are years behind the French Resorts in opening up after storms. Be very careful when considering a ski holiday here. If the weather is marginal or poor then you will be wasting your money and would get much better value nearly any where else. I’ve skied many times in France, the USA and Canada and the Lech/Zürs region was by far the worst when dealing with bad weather. This not a “World Class” resort because of this failing. They even had the arrogance to highlight “40cm of new Powder” on main page of their App when all of the lifts were shut.

Lech has it all, amazing snow, great lift system, amazing restaurants and apre ski choices in Uberlech and elsewhere. We liked the interconnected lifts and ski runs to Warth, Stuben, St.Anton and Zuers that give you so many options on where to ski and ride. We love the many pensions and family-owned accommodations that we have stay at. Ski routes throughout the Lech and Zuers areas offer powder turns for better skiers and we love the many on-slope restaurants to select from when it’s time for a beer and food break. In the eventing there are a lot of casual and formal restaurants depending on your mood.
We love that most of the upper mountain stays uncrossed and that you can ski all over the region on one lift ticket. I strongly suggest staying in a small, family run hotel or pension with a local family to get the most out of your trip to the Arlberg. The region gets tons of snow and the only downside can be the low visibility days above the tree line. It’s our favorite ski resort in Austria and a top 3 destination.

Did Zurs on the Epic pass March 17th for 6 days, and it was amazing. The town is small, but it is 100% about skiing. You can buy anything related to skiing there- I needed a jacket, and am 6'8" tall, and found 2 at different shops next to where I was staying (Arlberg Haus). Spent one day skiing to Worth guided by host Tomas Eggler, another to St Anton. Throughout the range are great places to eat and vast terrain with sweet untracked pow. Of all the places we skiied on that trip, Zurs was #1, and I could see why Austria is the birthplace of skiing.
