Totalt (2.9)

I wouldn’t go back without calling first to see if they groomed and are all the chairlifts operating. It would be nice to have a lodge again, instead of a cold garage like room and cold outdoor biffies to boot. Not a good experience

They are rapidly upgrading this outstanding ski resort. The new owners are investing in major updates and improvements and it shows! If you haven't been here in a few years give it a try again because if you've been here before you know the varied terrain is the most fun in Wisconsin and Michigan. The downside used to be that the resort was on a downward trajectory of maintenance. No more!
We started skiing in northern WI and MI in the early 1990s and used to stay remote and make day trips to ski at several locations. After a few years we all agreed that Whitecap was hands down the best skiing and have come here exclusively ever since.
Our group has always consisted of adults and later added kids as they arrived so we always have mixed abilities and a mix of skiers and boarders. Whitecap has more than enough variety for everyone. It's impossible to get bored here.
The fact that half the slopes face south and half face north is a huge advantage also. We've skied here in temperatures like this weekend (-19 overnight and high winds) and had sunny days above freezing. The ability to move from S-N and back in response to wind and sun is great and makes what could be considered a tough weather day into a lot of fun.
If you require only "the best" in your accommodations then you are giving up the best skiing in the region. But based on the work done so far the new owners have the right plan and the right vision to bring the hoards of people soon enough. Enjoy it now while you have 300+ acres to play on with no waiting on lifts.

Went here for the first time in 20+ years this past weekend with my boys, ages 9 and 12, and my parents. We all had a great experience. The snow was great and the runs were the perfect blend of challenging and fun for all of us, and there were so many to choose from that we never got bored. The Wine Hut was a great stop for a mid afternoon drink and snack. I do hope they rebuild/add onto what is left of their lodge following the fire last season. While I appreciate that carry ins are allowed because there is no food sold in the ticket area, it would be nice to have some concessions and indoor bathrooms and more space to come in and sit to warm up. These were minor inconveniences for me because the skiing was so great, but improving their lodge area would make this a 5 star destination for our family.

Been skiing out west for decades. This area has the “out west” feel. Valid if plenty of new snow. Excited to go back.
I am one of the first ski members when White Cap first opened in the early 1960"s when Doc Patterson first opened the ski resort.
Always a great ski resort.

Visited after big two day thaw followed by sub zero temps. Grooming was done everywhere evenly, but it froze hard corduroy. Not very carveable. Mid week February and only 6 cars here! $15 lift ticket on retro 70’s day. Portapotties at rental ticket center. Restrooms in hotel. Great intermediate area 80%, advanced mogul areas, 10%, beginner winders (long) in back (Lech) 10%. Leave backpacks in car unless you can load while carrying it. A few more fresh inches and/or skiers to breakup the crust and this place will be dynamite.

Had a fun time skiing at Whitecap this past weekend. There are some real fun runs to be had at this place. Offered some challenging terrain on the southside. I've got to give a shoutout to Joe who was running a lift on the southside; dude was grilling up some awesome chicken and hot dogs. He is possibly was the nicest lifty I have ever came across. The Wine Hut was a blast to hangout in for a while mid day. The lifts need some love, but it is what it is. I'll be skiing here again.

Glad we only spent 1 day there. It was so icy that it felt unsafe with kids there. Went over to another place and found groomed slopes. In talking with others in town it sounds like new owners but same conditions. No one understands why they put the bar over the hill for priorities.

Usually great hills, but they did not take care of the runs and with icy conditions it was a let down. We did get a little snow, but ice underneath made it very scary. I'm not sure why they didn't groom better as I saw the groomer tracks but it left a lot of ice chunks. I heard the new owner put 3.5million into this place, but the only thing that looked new was a bar and restaurant. With lift ticket prices we always pack our own food for lunch, but we did try for dinner and was not impressed. I was also hoping for a new and improved room but instead got the same old 1970s look with bedding about that same age. The tube tv was funny to see and great to see kids reaction to it.
